About Krav Maga
Krav Maga (translation="contact combat") is a self-defense system developed for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Israeli security forces. It is derived from a combination of techniques used in aikido, boxing, judo, karate, and wrestling with an emphasis on efficiency and simplicity. It was derived from the street-fighting experience of Hungarian-Israeli martial artist Imi Lichtenfeld, who made use of his training as a boxer and wrestler while defending the Jewish quarter against fascist groups in Bratislava during the mid-to-late 1930s. In the late 1940s, after his immigration to Mandatory Palestine, he began to provide lessons on combat training to what was to become the IDF.
Krav Maga is a great way to get in shape while developing the skills and mindset to help keep yourself safe.Â
